Island Hop: The Northern Aesthetic

Ajuy, Iloilo Island Hop and More.

I am privileged for the opportunity given to me by the Municipality of Ajuy , Tourism Office  to take photos of their Islands. A great experience indeed.

Good view for here to there is what I’ve witnessed it’s like re-watching Moana the Philippines version (what?) Anyway, I wanna show you photos I’ve taken. This Gallery contains random photos and people I am with. A great experience for someone starting photography.

From Culasi Port, we hopped in the Bantay Dagat pump boat to start the adventure, waves are smashing that time but we never let that stop us from creating an iloilo experience summer story. taking these photographs is a struggle though, I just hope you lie the outcome. (laughs)

First stop Nasidman Island to buy TABAGAK (dried fish) and fresh fish. It’s always better with fresh, from an Urban guy who always get pork, beef and chicken, we seldomly taste this kind of food which we always crave about.

This is just the first part of our adventure, stay tune! I’ll be posting part 2 of this blog when I finish with post-process. Ciao!

Hope you enjoyed it!

Wild: A Solo Travel with Central Mountaineers

Urban life can be so stressful from our tiring jobs, daily traffic, relationship demands or even spending money so most of us find an outlet to release it all and just relax for a bit, some stay at home, listen to music, watch movies, some goes out and drink with friends, cozy time in coffee shops, read books or even have a full body massage while other goes out on a travel out of the urban, trekking, beach or countryside, each of us have different taste and styles in reaching out to our inner self to be at our most relaxed state. I know its hard especially when we go through worst situations like a break up, losing jobs, finding your not good enough or even just a small confrontations and conflicts from people we care about, it’s unhealthy so, yes I suggest feeding your instagram or facebook with something that could free you from these issues.

PHILIPPINES, is one of the most beautiful countries in the world if you’re a naturist, an outdoor kind of person or an adventurer that would like to try new things from mountains to beaches ILOILO CITY has plenty of them.

This trip has led me to experience things I never thought I’d do from not giving in to my tired legs, my sleepy eyes to the hard climbs and more than an hour walks, I would admit it’s tiring but at the same time relaxing.

Miagao, Iloilo is famous with mountains and perfect scenery, since this is my first time trekking you can’t really blame me from complaining each and every stop but to be honest I feel fulfilled for the scene I’ve seen and stuff I’ve tried up in the mountains.

There are kubo’s (peasant houses) as an indication of each stops, streaming clean water from the mountains are available if you’ve drained your supply on your way to the top. It’s so cool how nature supplies everything to those who live there. You can stop for some time and breath. Here’s the first kubo stop. This is so instagrammable! (chuckles)

Dont worry you’re not gonna be lost on your way up, there are tour guides you can contact in The Municipal Office of Miagao, Iloilo under the Risk Reduction Team. Have a peak of their faces. Details are down below.

You will see and hear a lot of stuff on the way up from creepy stories, forests relaxing sound, wild flowers to plants you’ve never seen and beautiful views that’ll melt your heart out in happiness and excitement.

The biggest flower in the world can also be found in Mt. Giob of Miagao, Iloilo or known as Raflessia Flower.

This trip also happened because of the Tinagong Dagat, which is famous not just because of its magnificient placement in between mountains but also because of the stories it came from. According to legends there are two lovers from many years ago that got separated by the mountains dividing their towns and would walk and climb their life just to see each other, the story is analogous to Lambunao, Iloilo’s Tinagong dagat. Also one of the stories that creep the blood down my spine is the elemental that protects the place, the protector that will not allow anybody destroying this jewel from shining to life

One of the tour guide whispered to us that there’s a tree that shows the image of the said protector, I was able to capture one photo before I shake myself to this horror.

Anyway, this is just getting more intense, but after approximately 3 hours of climb and walk to reach and see those destinations we’re not into finish line yet. We should of course consider a place where we could sleep and eat, I was with some professional mountaineers that time so I didnt really worry how hard it is to set up a tent. 1 PM, when we arrive to Bato sang Giob (Rock of Mt. Giob.)

I’ve met the two natives that lived up the mountains of Miagao all their lives.

Meet Tatay Isiong and Nanay Letty.

The mountaineering isn’t not complete without waterfalls. This is a smaller waterfalls in the mountains, this the nearest one to our campsite but it’s still awesome.

The fun and excitement continues from dusk to dawn, I am hoping to continue climbing mountains and I will make sure to update this page, each and every travel of mine. It’s an adventure afterall it’s not complete without details, if you’re interested in getting this adventure in your bucketlist, I guarantee it is fun and as a minimalist myself, you can be more and with less. Its one of the most relaxing moments of my life.

You can ride Jeepney in Iloilo Terminal Market to Miag-ao for only Php 50.00 It’ll only take an hour and 30 minutes to get there, the trail guide will meet you at Miagao’s Municipal Office, trail guides are Val/Bon Bon you can contact them at ‪+639369508958‬ or  +639368403573. They also arrange transportation going to the jump-off point of Brgy. Ongyod, Miag-ao, Iloilo, we paid the Driver Php 1,000 out of 10 people the more the marrier, you just have to bring your own trekking gears like water suppy, food supply, tent eating utensils and you’re all set. The natives will accompany you by their kubo on the campsite so you’ll be safe as a kid in a crib.

I hope you enjoyed this blog, see you to my next destination!

Growing pines in ILOILO.

No one could deny the beauty of pine trees, when the formation is created between trucks is like looking at big screen, surreal. Everybody has used this as a prop to many events, christmas, landscapes and even movies. Green and dark, bright with sunlight or white with snowflakes no matter what the set up is, It’s always better with pine.
